"Love" quite possibly the strongest word in any language

Love... quite possibly the most potent word in any language. This tiny four letter word has been the cause of warfare, disloyalty, and insanity, but it also results in serenity, unpredicted adventures, and unsurpassed ingenuity. How is it possible that a thing that is usually so good can bring us to such bad? The French, acknowledged for love, have many fascinating love stories to tell. Consider the story of the sculptor Rodin and his lover Camille Claudel. Claudel worked under Rodin when they began their affair. His refusal to leave his wife for her made Claudel insane and she smashed a number of her sculptures during episodes of paranoia which was a result of her schizophrenia. Claudel spent the last 30 years of her life in a hospital. How might a power that can bring a person to such bouts of despair be the one thing that we all seek out in our lives? Alternatively, let us take a look another french couple. Voltaire and Emilie du Chatelet had a 15 year long relationship which was frowned upon by the people, yet allowed by Chatelet's husband, the Marquis Florent-Claude du Chatelet. Chatelet and Voltaire shared a powerful scholarly bond and spent time philosophizing together, gathering books for the library, and giving suggestions on each other's work in mathematics and science. Their shared values and commitment to each other fueled their love even after her untimely death. At the time of her death, Voltaire wrote of Chatelet, "It is not a mistress I have lost but half of myself, a soul for which my soul seems to have been made." In spite of her arranged marriage to the Marquis, the passion between Chatelet and Voltaire was tolerated and not envied. They were the focus of disdain but were allowed to spend their lives together in shared appreciation. Their story illustrates love in its best form. valentine gifts for menIn my opinion, love is the only thing worth living for.
